About Me
Hello CS !!
My name is Baptiste, and I am currently hitchhiking along the east coast of the United States to join part of my family in Canada at the end of January!
The idea behind this trip is to stay with locals and travel by hitchhiking. I want to see the United States in an authentic and unbiased way, and have an intense experience.
Here is my new itinerary: Orlando, Tampa, Brooksville, Saint Augustine, Savannah, Richmond, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and finally Montreal.
So far, hitchhiking has been very difficult, but I've met some great people on the road and through couchsurfing, and I'm sure it will continue in the north of the country!
In everyday life, I'm a political science student in Paris and I really enjoy swimming and literature. Alongside my studies, I work as a lifeguard and I'm also a scout leader during the summer!
I am lucky enough to be participating in a one-year university exchange program in Bogotá, Colombia. I have been here for five months now, and I have discovered a wonderful and very diverse culture. I have had the opportunity to travel around the country and also visit Peru and Bolivia.
I would say that my greatest quality is my curiosity, and that my inseparable flaw is that I do everything at the last minute, haha.
I am a very good listener, and in fact I prefer asking questions to answering them, haha.
I would be delighted to meet you along the way and share a little bit of French culture with you!
Philosophy :
One of the most important things for me is to respect the environment that created me and allows me to live every day, and to protect living things. Being respectful, conscious, and promoting moderation in my lifestyle choices and habits.
Things that are important to me in a person : listening skills, open-mindedness, humility, respect, and above all, curiosity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Actually, I tried couchsurfing before I even knew this site existed haha ! When I was 19, my best friend and I went on a long hitchhiking trip through the south of France, sleeping at people's houses we met along the way. This experience had a profound impact on the way I travel. After that, I left the tourist trails and tried to get as close as possible to the lives of the locals without idealizing or essentializing them.
This led me to hitchhike across my country, get lost in Colombia, and take this trip to the US, which for me is the culmination of everything I want to experience
