ABOUT ME

Hi. I am well travelled but still have a lot of places on my list! I have been surfing for over 40 years and live in a small coastal town where I can hear the sea from my house and walk a few minutes to the surf. I check it first thing everyday! I am a freelance artist who has worked with all sorts of communities on all sorts of creative art projects. I am a painter and a cartoonist and devote 3 days a week or so to my arts practice and the rest of my working time to growing and planting native trees to replace everything that was cut down when white man came to Australia! I am busy but my life is pretty relaxed and there is always time if the surf is good! I love my life and am very happy. I live alone but have many friends and a great community here. We are always interested to share our place with travelers, just as people have always been hospitable to me when I have travelled.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest but not at any one's or anything's expence. Be present. Appreciate everything. Understand that there is picture bigger than all of us but that we can do a lot of good by being peaceful and loving and finding ways to share, heal, create, help, be ourselves in the fullest sense; and feel gratitude for all we have and for the lessons we are given to learn, even though that can sometimes be tough! Laugh lots and Love deeply!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sorry gang, but due to covid I have suspended my participation in hosting guests, and also travelling, for the time being. Sorry if I do not reply to messages or requests, but hopefully things will get back to some viable kind of normal in the not too distant future

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met a few people by now and they have all been lovely. It has been great to see where I live through fresh eyes and to help people out when I can.

Interests

I am interested in just about everything, especially in the natural world. Also in different cultures and artforms; my art; reading; plants and the environment; seeing art and theatre and films; food; other people; travel of course!; writing; yoga; meditation; philosophy; the sea and any kind of fun associated with it!; bush walking; gazing at the stars; hanging out with my friends and lovely girlfriend!

Too long a list! I love any movie that isnt violent or too silly and boring and any music that isnt too raucous! I love books and have many on the go at once!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

OMG Which one to pick?! Climbing to the top of a minor peak in the Himalaya when I was only nineteen and standing up there looking at glaciers and mountains all around and below me, has to be a highlight!
