About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My goal in life is pretty simple: explore the ENTIRE world, find a job that I love, find that special someone and have a family...simple right??

ABOUT ME

I am an aspiring librarian who just loves to learn about everything, and especially new cultures! I have definitely been bitten by the travel bug and am not too sure if it's going away ANY time soon, so I plan on making the most of it and living in different places in the US and after I graduate in August to go backpack Europe for five weeks :) After I return, I suppose I will be a grown-up and get a job, but who knows? There are so many other opportunities out there that I would love to explore. For example, volunteering abroad, Americorps, Teach for America, or maybe even PeaceCorps, WHO KNOWS?? Not me, and I kind-of like it that way :)

PHILOSOPHY

Oh, normally I would not like this question, but lately I have come up with a personal philosophy.

"Do what makes you happy." I know it's cliche and totally not original, but it's what I believe. I truly believe that if you don't conform to what others want you to do and who they want you to be, and you just do what you want to do and what makes your life fulfilling, then you are good to go :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Haven't participated much yet, but my best friend, Kathryn and I are excited to hopefully meet up with and hopefully stay with some couchsurfers while traveling around Europe!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any yet, but I'm hoping to soon in the future!

Interests

*Music-of any type minus heavy metal-my favorite is Country Music, but I love anything!
*Books-of course I have to love books, I'm going to become a librarian!!
*Singing-this kind-of goes with music, but I have been in choirs my entire life and after I'm out of school, it's going to be more difficult to be involved in a choir and I hope that wherever I move I can still find a group to sing in, because sometimes music is what keeps me going
*Running-I've recently taken up running for my favorite form of exercise, which if you would have told me 1 year ago that it would be my fav, I'd would have laughed in your face!
*Tv shows-as lame as it sounds, and maybe lazy I do love watching my tv shows because like books, it's fun to escape into other people's lives every once in a while. I currently have 8 tv shows (Once Upon a Time, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, The Bachelor, Pretty Little Liars, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice)that I watch regularly every week- it's kind-of ridic but I don't mind! I also love watching reruns of Friends (my all-time fave), How I Met Your Mother and Criminal Minds.
*Volunteering-I've really tried to get involved while I am in Pittsburgh and I am enjoying the volunteer experiences that I have been having. I also previously went on a lot of mission/service trips and cherish those experiences so much.
*Friends and Family-it shouldn't even have to be said that they are an "interest" but they are. I do not know what I would do without them, it's as simple as that!

Music, Movies, and Books

Well I sort-of already talked about this but:

Fav artists: Brad Paisley, Sara Barielles, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, The Civil Wars (new fave), and soooooo many more!

Fav Books: Harry Potter of course, Romances (yes I am one of those people, and not afraid to admit it), I LOVE series, and Jodi Picoult is about the best writer I have ever read.

Fav Movies: Forrest Gump, She's the Man, Never Been Kissed, Inception, It's a Wonderful Life, The Lion King, and a lot more that I can't think of right now

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bungee jumped in Queenstown, New Zealand at the Nevis bungy-134 meters (8 seconds of pure freefall). It was a little scary, but I surprised my friends as well as myself by being the first one to go and had no hesitation to jump. It really is an indescribable feeling!

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I haven't actual couchsurfed before, but I have traveled, I would say the biggest tip is really to be open about trying everything-especially the food of a culture-it's adventurous and respectful and not to mention you might just find your new favorite food :)

Countries I’ve Visited
