About Me

Knowledge for the sake of knowledge

I am easy-going, easy to get along with; I am very rarely stressed, and live with a degree of flexibility. For the most I am optimistic and able to see positively. I am not overly talkative, nor taciturn; I will listen happily to whatever you might want to say.

I believe in making my own mistakes, and that's all i'm sure of at the moment. I've done a lot of reading, but only to the avail of being now convinced that it will take me a long time yet to begin putting my thoughts in any sort of substantive order.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

hosting/meeting up with people at home, surfing abroad

I first surfed in England, then hosted a bunch in Toronto, surfed a bit more in Philly & DC, and am now in the hospitality business in Kelowna

the passion that manifests itself preeminently in my life is that of music....listening and playing. A close second would be reading and literature. Other recent time consumers of mine are tea, cooking/baking, and learning how to pronounce really tricky German words. I also brew my own beer....mostly dark ales, porter and stout. mhmmmm yeast....

I've also done a lot of camping and a few backpack trips, hiking/scrambling, treeplanting, and, in short, am inclined to like most things pertaining to nature. Probably my biggest ambition right now is to get out west and spend some time in the rockies. I also really want to get a charango.....

Music, Movies, and Books

I am constantly listening to music... my page should tell you all you need to know. Favourites would be The National, Laura Marling, Animal Collective, Beirut, Constantines....

As for movies, I don't claim to have seen all that many, but some of my favourites are Lost in Translation, Good Will Hunting, Into the Wild, Fargo, and Melancholia.

as for books....who can deny the great Tolstoy? He's devoured so much of my mind I can't even recollect a single others' name. oh yeah, that lemony snickett fellow is pretty great too...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

a good stereotypical response to this would be climbing Yr Wyddtha via Crib Goch in Northern Wales, which was definitely an amazing day...but i must also mention the time i trapped a chipmunk using only a pot and some rope - he never saw it coming!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn anything and everything.

Countries I’ve Visited
