About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet as many people as I can and listen to those who need it.

ABOUT ME

I am a scientist and passionate about what I do. I view science as exploration into the unknown - the same philosophy that makes me want to travel, discover new things and meet interesting people.

My current work sees me living in Glasgow where I have already been for a number of years. I am pursuing a PhD at Glasgow university on the interface between Biology and the physical sciences, I am facinated by biology and find it mesmorisingly beautiful.

I like to interspace my time with travelling at any opportunity, a personal aim is to visit as many countries as possible, I enjoy visiting my friends that have moved away to different locations or returned home.

My future will hopefully see me living abroad, I would ideally like to spend some time living elsewhere and broaden my cultural experience in the process.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is shaped by the decisions we make and the consequences that follow. I believe life is not charted in anyway but free to flow in whatever direction we channel it, sometimes it will push back testing us with the by decisions we have to make, but adhering to our principles lets us ellucidate the best action in the face of lifes challenges.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Fairly new at the moment, a friend got me interested after explaining it to me and I liked the sound of it. So far I have met lots of wonderful people that have shown me the couch surfing spirit.

Interests

Many many things, but I will try to keep it to the most relevent. I am really into cycling, I say cycling beacuase I like to go both road racing and mountain biking, my best road journeys yet have taken me all over the highlands. I enjoy travelling, I have been to some amazing places with friends and family, when I go I like to rough it, I belive every journey should be an adventure and it's only an adventure if it's a challenge, whether it be hitchhiking to a destination or trying to pitch a tent in gale force winds. I also love my city pursuits, festivals, gigs and any kind of one off event is a chance that should always be taken plus you never know who might meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, I like loads from the 60's, alfread hitchcock and such films that have that look and style. I like my scottish cinema from small cult classics like restless natives to new releases like Red Road. In terms of foreign films I always find myself watching a German film if it presents itself, The Wave, Das Experiment all very good.

Books, I like anything that is epic, challenging and plays with a subtle idea that really makes you think, my favorite read to date is Kafka of the Shore by Haruki Murakami. I also really like Aldous Huxleys final novel Island. I also rate Jack Kerouac as stimulating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the morning dawn progress from Mt Fuji with my little sister in 2009, a special moment I won't forget.

I hitchhiked around France during 2007, camping, hiking and sleeping rough where necessary. During the time I went kayaking in the Ardeche gorge, the whole experience shaped me for the better.
