Hi I'm Beanie! I’m currently living in Kilkenny Ireland, working from home due to covid but typically I'm a happy traveller who loves Wwoofing/volunteering/Couchsurfing so that I can learn different building methods, crafts and how to be self sufficient, as well as meeting wonderful new people and experiencing new things. I will hopefully travel all over the world doing this as I love seeing new places, meeting interesting people, and learning about other cultures. I particularly love learning about the history, the food and the music of a place. I love to cook! Somewhat experimentally - and at times hapazardly - but the results are usually pretty tasty. I'm vegan and my aim is to make yummy food that no one who eats it will feel like they're missing out on anything. I am also slowly trying to learn guitar and want to learn to sing, and I love to listen to live music of any sort.

I love learning languages (although I’m not very good at any of them!) and so far have a basic level in French and very basic in Spanish, but I would love to get better at both of them . I think it is so rewarding and important to be able to speak to people in their native language when travelling, so that you can really connect with them and embrace the experience of being in that different culture. So, even though I find it very difficult to learn new languages, I am determined not to give up!

My dream is to one day build my own little home out of completely natural materials, grow all of my own food, make my own food and beauty products, and open a really chilled, small vegan/music café, where the food is free, you just give what you can in terms of help in the garden or playing some music. But only for a few months of the year, the rest of the time I want to travel, write, draw, play music, try new things, have fun and, most importantly, be free! I am happy with very few possessions and feel the closer I can get back to living as naturally and healthily as possible, the happier I will be. I love to meditate and do yoga and try to see the positives in life, remembering how grateful I should be for what I have and what I've done.

I love to talk to people, about anything. It is wonderful to be able to learn from others, share experiences, talk about big life issues and the great mysteries of life...or just talk complete nonsense and have a laugh!!

The trust of those letting you into their home and the kindness they show towards you with Couchsurfing reminds me how amazing people can be. Being able to share, learn and have fun with others in this way can be so rewarding for both parties. It seems to reconnect people in a way that we need to feel human, but we have lost in a lot of societies.

I'll watch pretty much any film at least once, and I enjoy thrillers, crime, romance, action, Disney, historic, anything really, I’m just not too keen on gory horror films.

I love to listen to music but I'm totally useless at remembering what the song called or who it's by! I'm a 60's girl at heart, I love 60's rock, soul and blues but also enjoy classic spanish, folk, and classical music. I really want to listen to different sorts of music and branch out into new genres, at the moment I am listening to a lot of folk and Spanish and want to learn about different music from around the world.

I love reading but don't have much time, once I get into a book though I just can’t put it down until I’m finished. Same thing as with the film's, I will read pretty much anything but love things that move me or I can learn from. I particularly loved The Time Traveller's Wife, The Snow Child, Game of Thrones, The Seven Sister's, His Dark Materials trilogy, Chocolat - and of course Harry Potter.

I can share my positive outlook, a big smile, and a lot of enthusiasm for the simple things. I love to help people as much as possible, it is one of the most rewarding things in life just to be there for someone if they need it. So if you have a problem I'll do my best to help, whether it is something practical, like something that needs fixing (I have some basic carpentry and building experience, various different craft skills, and am generally very happy just tinkering with stuff to try to mend it), or something more personal or emotional - I really enjoy listening to people. I love to cook so I am always up for sharing what culinary skills I have. I haven't done loads of travelling so far but will happily share what stories I have.
