About Me

I am an astronomy education researcher, a science communicator, an artist, a dancer, and an aspiring traveler. My current passion is to live life at the intersections because there is so much to be learned from observing, experiencing, and combining elements of different walks of life. I'm especially interested in integrating art and science in innovative ways to provoke scientific and artistic curiosity for people of many different ages, interests, and backgrounds.

I'm intrigued by meeting diverse and interesting people and places by traveling to new places and hosting people from around the world. I strive to be open-minded and easy-going, and I enjoy learning what people have to teach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Each new couchsurfing experience for me has been incredible and unique, and the accumulation of these experiences has been a source of powerful learning. I deeply appreciate the couchsurfing community and what it stands for, and the people I have met along the way have helped open my eyes to new ways of perceiving the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
I especially enjoy visually interesting and artistic movies, clever comedies, and cerebral movies. Boy and the World, Amelie, The Artist, The Fall, Baraka, The Secret of Kells, This Is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, The Point, Harold and Maude, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Music:
Many varieties, but genres I particularly enjoy include EDM, indie, world, classic rock and oldies, electroswing, and jazz

Books:
Insight Out, Little Bee, A Clockwork Orange, Water for Elephants, Equus, Roots, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Life of Pi, Of Mice and Men, Flatland, The Giving Tree, Death by Black Hole, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've exchanged one of the most incredible, emotionally powerful, and genuine hugs with a random person that I never got the chance to know. I've floated down an underground river, the cave ceilings lined with millions of glow worms. I've witnessed the 'ah-ha' moments of people of all ages when they feel a spark of excitement about something new they learned. And I've taken an active role in shaping myself into the person I want to be.

Teach, Learn, Share

My life philosophy is pretty deeply rooted around the principles of teaching, learning, and sharing with others, so anything you are passionate about teaching I would love to learn. I'd be glad to share perspectives on education (particularly science education) and what we've learned scientifically about planets, stars, galaxies, and the rest of the universe. In general, I greatly appreciate deep intellectual, emotional, and spiritual conversations that occur with respect and open understanding.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always happy to share a solid hug, exchange smiles and stories, help cook and clean, and teach a little about education, the scientific learnings about the universe, or show you a little bit of acroyoga.
