About Me
Hi I’m Melih
"Is a different life possible?" This is the question that led me to leave my stable career as a police officer and hit the road. After years of living a life of rules and routines, I decided to push my limits and explore the world—and myself—through a completely different lens.
Now, I’m a storyteller and a nomad. I document my journeys on YouTube (Melih Bektaş) and Instagram (@melihbektass1), capturing the beauty of different cultures and the raw reality of life on the move. For me, traveling isn't just about seeing new places; it's about testing my boundaries and discovering what lies beyond my comfort zone.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me:
• Lost in a book: I have a deep love for literature.
• In the kitchen: I enjoy experimenting with local flavors and cooking for friends.
• Making music: I carry a piece of my heritage with me through the Bağlama (a traditional Turkish instrument). I’d love to play a few melodies for you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that the best way to understand a country is through its people, not its monuments. I want to hear your stories—the real, unedited experiences that shaped who you are. I’m always ready to lend a hand, share a meal, and bridge the gap between "foreigner" and "friend."
