G'day, I'm Ben! I'm 23 and a graduate from the University of South Australia who has had his fill of academic study and wishes to get first hand experience of the wide world starting in my home country by backpacking!

I'm a bit sarcastic, fairly cautious and well spoken, many would probably describe me as a bit of a smartarse and I may have a tendency to make bad puns and bad jokes on the odd occasion. Or two...
I'm also fairly honest and find it best to say things upfront rather than let them fester. Granted that doesn't always work out but it's how I've come to operate; I've learned that sometimes it's not what you say but how you say it.

I know it says write an essay but I wouldn't want to put any of you through that. Besides, there's not really that much else to me. I'm just a guy who's tired of being stuck in his home town, tired of studying, tired of being in part time work all the time and wanting to see the world and wanting to learn about it more and try to gain some kind of understanding and attain a sense of self value and purpose.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I had heard about it more than once over the years and thought it sounded very cool. A chance to meet someone new, hear their stories and views and have a warm place to sleep seems like a very awesome way to travel. It also seems to be a lot cheaper especially seeing as I'm planning to travel the entire world on very little money (I'm not gonna lie, many would probably tell me I'm in over my head).

Musik, Filme und Bücher

As far as music goes... I'll pretty much listen to anything I like the sound of pretty much anything and as a result have a very... eclectic mix of songs that I listen to regularly. Some examples include: Disturbed, AC/DC, Michael Buble, Celine Dion, movie soundtracks, Tchiakovsky and pretty much any other orchestra and opera that I like the sound of.

I like natural disaster movies such as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow, there's something awesome about seeing Mother Nature portrayed in such a destructive way. ... That sentence didn't sound right, I'm meant to be appealing to hosts, not terrifying them...
