Hi there! My name is Ben and I’m a young Canadian traveller from just outside of Toronto, Ontario. I just recently finished a degree in social sciences at the University of Waterloo. I am a proud non-binary person and my pronouns are they/them!

I love nature, hiking, trekking, animals, taking photos and videos, trying new food (I LOVE food of all kinds!), learning about other cultures, and trying new things. Experiencing other cultures is probably one of my favourite things to do. I love to learn, and I love hearing about people’s experiences from all over the world.

I am clean, friendly and love to chat and exchange stories. I love wine and beer and partying occasionally is always fun too. I love to dance! And I love camping.

I also love sports as well: I have played football(soccer), ice hockey, rugby (Canadian National + provincial levels), basketball, and a number of other sports. At home I coach rugby at the university level.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on couch surfing because I want to meet and get to know people who are interested in travelling and hosting travellers so I can have cool one-on-one experiences and make new friends from all around the world. Travellers/backpackers tend to make the best company and have the best conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie, rock, punk, hip hop, pop, country, and everything in between. I love music very much. Love reading feminist work - one of my favourite authors is Sylvia Plath. I love all kinds of movies but I think Horror movies are my favourite although I’m kind of a bum and usually need a pillow to snuggle for the jump scares. Lol

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got bitten by a baby sea lion on the Galápagos Islands lol

In 2019 I played two international rugby league test matches against Serbia’s national team, and visited 10 different countries on my way there!

Teach, Learn, Share

I study politics and social science, and I am extremely interested in world politics and cultures on both a micro and a macro level. I basically love anything anthropology, including linguistics. I can also teach you some rugby skills if you’re up for it and we can find a ball.
