About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am deeply investing my time and energy to end the global shark fin trade, and catch as many stellar world class waves as I can along the way.

ABOUT ME

It wasn't until 3 years ago I decided to make the conscious shift from studying shark functional morphology to actually taking responsibility for conserving the Family of fish as a whole. This has been my absolute passion and has brought me to where I am today. While I am not out tagging sharks or capturing raw images of sharks being sold at fish markets/harbours, you can generally find me out at your local break either on SUP or paddling with the rest of em' in the lineup for a nice glassy right (I love SURFING!).

Growing up in the Midwest of the U.S.A. doesn't provided a lot of exposure to sharks, but for a deeply rooted reason I've always been attracted to them and the sea which relies on the stability of the most powerful apex predator (sharks) for her own health. Although there's no saltwater where I am from, there's plenty of freshwater (The Great Lakes). Here I learned to surf, as well as snowboard in the Mountains of our Upper Peninsula (UP). The UP provided me with another one of my deeply rooted characteristics, respect for all living/sentient beings flora or fauna. The deep north woods here are a place for me to find true inner peace. By learning this respect in my homeland I'm now able to find this inner peace in all naturally beautiful landscapes.

I live for the adventure... (to be continued)

PHILOSOPHY

Never to take any more than one needs to sustain happiness and virtue in life. I very much relate my life and philosophy to the true Americans, The Native American Indian, specifically those of the Pacific North West sea faring tribes. We all live on the same planet, and we all rely on her for pure water, nutrient rich food, and shelter. Waste not want not. There is no need to have faith in a god for your well being, when our Mother Earth can provide all which is necessary. Existence is an entirely different topic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just started participating with CouchSurfing in March 2012 when I left the U.S.A. and started traveling in India, so right now all my participation has been in the surfing department.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's always nice to have a couch/bed/floor to crash on in someone's own home after spending night after night in guesthouses, but even just meeting someone on CouchSurfing and spending the day or week with them while you're in their town can be better than not knowing a local at all. Locals always show you the best time (almost always).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, as in 18/5/2012, I went inside the Matrimandir (Mother's Room) in Auroville outside of Pondicherry, India. There's been amazing things I have done in my life, but right now this event is sitting at the top and blocking everything else out. My breath is still taken away from the amount of energy, detail, design, and passion which went into creating a sanctuary dedicated to Human Unity.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to share with the world how to enjoy Nature and see it for what it really is.

I want to learn how to open my ears more and not just hear, but listen and truly understand people individually.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, Canada, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
