ABOUT ME

I decided to quit my job when I couldn't understand what motivated me to drive to work that day. I put in my notice and was overwhelmed by the question that if I could do anything where I could go and what I could do.

The first step was to book a one way flight to Europe and pursue things that I was interested in. So far these adventures include boat building in Germany and wine making in France.

PHILOSOPHY

The key to success and happiness in life is relationships.

I seek to deepen my understanding of myself through my interactions with the people around me. Traveling allows for an especially enriching experience because it forces the individual to confront comfort zones and grow as a person. In experiencing all there is to see in the world, I hope to give back to the people I encounter to help them see glimpses of what I have experience through my interactions with others.

Recently I've been reading some of the better known books on permaculture and low impact living. I usually am carrying an Ipod that I'll use to listen to podcasts and books on tape on.

After failing for a solid 5 days it was a really awesome feeling to finally get up on a board kite surfing. Unlike waterskiing you're completely reliant on skill and nature to stay floating on something not much bigger than a doormat. Unlike the riders that are really good I haven't learned to control the kite well enough to fly but the story will change once I get more experienced :).

On occasion I have been known to go on rambling tangents about science-y things. I'd like to say it's the result of having gone through six years of engineering school, but a more likely explanation is that it's just a personality quirk that I like to internalize and store information that will be no practical use to anyone. Ever.

Being a stranger in a strange land I would very much like to share experiences with local customs and language, especially with local foods as there are many differences that I've found between international fare and that of my own country.
