About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live for adventure, embrace challenge, and never forget to make time for a beer with good friends at the end of the day

ABOUT ME

I'm an avid world traveler and I love to experience new places, cultures, and people off of the beaten path. I'm always up for a new adventure whether it is scuba diving with whale sharks, camping in the the Arabian desert, or trying out a new pub. I spend most of my free time doing sports and outdoor activities like soccer, surfing, wakeboarding, mixed martial arts, boating, and mountain biking. I am also a hobby musician playing guitar and mandolin, and I try to play open mic nights in the local pub when I have the chance.

When I'm not out having fun, I am at work as a research scientist designing next-generation electronics, and volunteering as an adjunct professor of engineering. I really enjoy what I do, and will move on to something else as soon as I don't.

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop learning, never stop improving, and always make time for a beer with friends

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I'm new to couchsurfing.org, I have surfed a few couches while I've traveled and studied abroad, and have had many people surf mine. When I host I like to show people the local spots that you won't normally find on lonely planet, and make new friends, but I have no problem if you want to go off and do your own thing and just use my couch as home base.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first couch surfed in Granada, Spain and had an amazing experience. Surfing couches I have been lucky enough to make many life-long friends who I have been able to stay in touch with.

Interests

Soccer, mountain biking, surfing, strength and agility training, mixed martial arts, rock climbing, craft brews and brewing, cooking, guitar, recording, classic rock on vinyl, graphic design, and just about any movie starring Sylvester Stallone.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I prefer it on vinyl: classic rock, electric and delta blues, jazz, and the classics like Sinatra.

Most of the books I've read in the last few years are full of electromagnetics equations, but I occasionally fit in a little Greek philosophy like Plato's Republic.

I'm always up for a good movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, moving to Saudi Arabia for several years to study was an amazing experience. I was able to camp with Bedouins in the desert, scuba with whale sharks, and immerse myself in a completely new and very different culture which taught me more than I could ever learn in a classroom.

Countries I’ve Visited
