ABOUT ME
I'm heading into my senior year of college, and I'm worried that my hourglass of carefree youth is running out. So, I've dedicated myself to traveling as much as possible - that is, getting lost, meeting new people, learning, eating well, and sampling the local liqueur.
This might be idealistic, but I'm also hoping that my travels will inspire my writing. I tend to find myself in ridiculous situations - walking ten miles through vineyards near Bordeaux after missing a train, getting stung by a deadly poisonous caterpillar in remote Panama, being served Sapporo by monks in a Japanese monastery - and each of them has provided me with a story to tell. In the past, I've always traveled with a number of friends, which has been great. That being said, I hope that CS will allow me to travel a bit more spontaneously.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Though I've heard about it for a while, I'm pretty much brand new to CS. Now that I have a decent apartment of my own, I can more easily host some travelers looking to explore Chicago.
I also travel a few times a year, and I would love to meet up (and potentially stay with) CS members abroad. If I've learned anything, it's that locals know better than Lonely Planet.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy short stories and humorous essays (David Sedaris, David Foster Wallace, Jhumpa Lahiri) as well as all kinds of novels.
I wouldn't consider myself a movie buff, though lately, I've had a small obsession with Almodovar.
I have terrible taste in music, but I'm always open to suggestions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is kind of lame, but being at the Democratic National Convention with my best friends in 2008 is hard to surpass.
Staying on a remote Panamanian island with the Kuna people was a close second.
