CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
I grew up in Maryland, lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 2 years, but now I am back in the Washington DC Metro Area since 2009.
I love outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and cycling. Utah was amazing for all of those, but I'm sure I can do most of that here in Maryland. My favorite is probably backpacking, because you get way out in the solitude of the backcountry and you feel like you really earn those views. I also like the independence of having everything you need on your back at any given time.
I am very laid-back and easy to get along with.
PHILOSOPHY
Question everything. But don't be a dick about it.
Treat others like you would want to be treated.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been telling all my friends about CS, hosted several times, and surfed my way through the Pacific Northwest and Canada in summer 2008. Surfed a bit in Europe and Thailand. I just love couchsurfing.com and all the people I have met through it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed my way through the NW States and Canadian provinces. Awesome couchsurfing time in Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia) and in Thailand. Hosted a bit in Salt Lake while I had a dwelling conducive to it. Hosted 9 surfers in one weekend for the Rally to Restore Sanity! Never a bad experience!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
World record for human-powered flight! http://www.agrc.umd.edu/gamera/
Also, I backpacked 1,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail in 76 days after finished graduate school in 2006. It definitely changed my life for the better. Mainly because it really instilled a love of the outdoors, a love of travel/exploration, and it taught me you really don't need many "things" to be happy. In fact, you are usually most happy when you have the least. It's less stress I think.
