About Me

BBM vs The World - to travel around the world during my gap year, seeing cool stuff, meeting new people, learning all the time!

Economics and Politics student at University of Manchester. Previously spent the last year travelling, hitting Asia, Oz, NZ, South and North America over the 12 months. Aside from that I love my sport - football, of course - music, going out with friends and meeting new people.

Beyond the facts about me, I enjoy the challenges of life, and to push out. Whether this is pushing myself to achieve new things, or meet new people, I'm always open to whatever the future holds! I like to see myself as good company, outgoing and always up for a laugh.

That everyone is allowed to experience their life as they wish to, but also looking out for others, challenging themselves to go further and overcoming what life can throw!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Whilst travelling I love to meet new people - both locals and travellers. Doesn't have to be as a guest, would love to meet people in the city too! Coffee?
When home and settled, would also be interested in hosting too!

I've yet to really get into the Couchsurfing experience properly but really do want to, looks great fun. I've met some people through it and was glad I did.

Music, Movies & Books

I am a pretty big fan of music of all types, which is why Spotify is brilliant for me. I have playlists built up of rock and indie music; folk; hip-hop; dance, techno, house; blue and jazz. Eclecticism is good! I've really been into the House/Garage revival from England and Europe though recently, particularly artists like Disclosure.

On my computer at home I have a load of varying films, and likewise whilst travelling I have a hard drive filled with all sorts from Batman to a rom com to Madagascar. I used to have a cinema card back home so saw a fair few films. I'd say comedies and action films are my favourite types.

I'm going to admit that I am terrible when it comes to reading books. I do a fair bit of reading but it's usually blogs and features on the internet. I can say I that I have read every Harry Potter myself if that counts for anything? But then I started The Da Vinci Code in July 2012, had it in my rucksack since September and am still no closer to finishing than I was when I packed it. Perhaps I should make it a target to read more!

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Skydiving and Bungy jumping within 4 days in New Zealand! Flying in a plane to 15,000ft before jumping out of it over Lake Taupo; diving 134m with nothing but a bungy cord to stop me in Queenstown.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been told I carry a wealth of knowledge when meeting new people, but it's because I have spoken to and met plenty of people and paid attention. Likewise I read the news - read the news people! Having an interest in the world is something that allows me to have topical discussions. Politics can be rather interesting you may find!

I want to learn from others how they lead their lives as such similarities between people can come from such different backgrounds. Something I want to be able to do is improve my Spanish, learn other languages too. I always feel like I have the easy option being a native English speaker because everybody else is often on their second, third, maybe fourth language when talking to me.
