ABOUT ME

Life story:

- Born to kind parents in Palo Alto, CA

- Grew up ages 2 - 14 next to a lake amid Oregon farms as a boy either trespassing in summer or studying in the rain

- Began studying traditional archery, Aikido/Iaido, and blacksmithing during high school

- Went to the University of Chicago for physics, researching and riding my bike a lot

- Currently living in LA doing something different: consulting

PHILOSOPHY

This is either a silly question or a very serious one. Generally, I think that suffering is worth it and should be sought out. Confucius' Analects make a lot of sense to me too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far? Visiting people, hosting, and generally being warm.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a variety of wonderful people while traveling with a friend through China and hosted a bunch in Los Angeles, usually during the summer.

Interests

Traditional archery (in the Easton olympic range in the park), Aikido (and Iaido and such), cycling for long periods of time, running for long periods of time, hiking for long periods of time, camping, finding wonderful hole-in-the-wall restaurants, walking and riding my bike around cities late at night and early in the morning, learning how to swim, building a new bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

While I usually like media other people like, its unusual for people to really enjoy what I like.

But a quick set of recommendations are Porco Rosso (film), Winter's Tale (book), and Yes Minister (TV). I'm eager for new independent music and generally believe that there are only two genres: good and bad.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Japan, Mongolia
