Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After spending the last 5 months travelling South East Asia and Australia with my girlfriend, we decided while awaiting for our return flight back to the UK that it just wasn't for us! (I mean who really wants to go back to the rain!!)
Only a matter of 24hrs before takeoff, our visas to allow us to return to Auz and work hard to experience more of the country were granted...And here we are! We'd eventually taken the jump!
Landing back in Auz with no real immediate plan, our friends had told us about an amazing platform called couchsurfing. The idea of meeting new exciting fellow travellers as well as the opportunity to meet locals sounded pretty darn good to us!

Interests

I (Ben) am a professional musican at home, specialising in drumming, so all things music related gets my heart going!! I've been up on the stage jamming with local bands since the day we landed in Asia and I LOVE it. Such an opportunity to just play and have fun in such beautiful settings (please be assured I am not travelling with drums - so don't worry about those earplugs!!)
My partner (Megan) is a real outdoor-goer and general sun worshipper! Whilst being away I can't tell you how many times I've turned around to see her disappearing up a rock wall or scaling a waterfall (which she subsequently gets stuck on and in the process of me helping her down, I fall the 10 metre drop to the bottom).
Both recently completed our scuba diving and is a keen interest of ours to push further.
We both love spending time learning - conquering Spanish is on our to do list.
But most of all, we just love having a laugh together whilst meeting new people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Passionate about all music (apart from one direction), but especially love jazz, rock and roll, funk and reggae. Megan and I both love music, its such a great universal language.
My favourite movies have got to be anything by Tarantino - pulp fiction is probably on the top of the list. Megan LOVES a bit of DENZEL W.
Books....where to start. I honestly can't pick one!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a drummer I had the opportunity to play in many different settings! However the one amazing thing that springs to mind is my time supporting Marilyn Manson on his sold our European tour and walking out to thousands of screaming fans worshipping your every move! That still gives me shivers.
...more recently my lovely partner helped my get over my fear of flying by buying my a skydive and as I plummeted from 15,000 feet to the ground, I thought.. This is pretty amazing!
With regards to Megan, she's a nurse so I think you'll agree when I say that just doing what she does is pretty damn amazing!
Recently together whilst in the tropical Gili islands we swam with massive turtles only metres from the shore. Watching Megan's explosion of excitement under the water was pretty amazing too!
