ABOUT ME

I am passionate about wilderness backpacking, camping, and exploring the miraculous wonders of the natural world! I find that I am happiest when I am spending each hour of the day in the wilderness observing the exquisite interrelationships of nature.
I also love bicycles and building them for all my friends. I spend my free time volunteering as a mechanic at my the local community self-service bicycle repair shop where I teach people how to work on their own bicycles. Because I am excited about self sufficiency I am always trying to make the things I need, cooking for myself and friends, and finding the no-cost solutions for everyone of life's situations.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything in this world is deeply connected and there is little separation between you and every other thing in this universe. I try my best to enjoy both the simplest marvels and the most intricate complexities of life. I strive to bring an infectious optimism and lust for experience to the world around me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I about to go couchsurfing for the first time, after hosting many wonderful people it is time for me to get out there and be the traveler!

When I have guests I like to show them around town by bicycle, so I try to keep a few extra bikes around to lend to my guests.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted some amazing travelers from all over the world and each encounter has been inspiring! I have tried to host couch surfers only when I have had enough free time to really get to know them and show them around my town. I have been rewarded by making great connections and really giving my guests a local's tour of the Santa Cruz area.

As I travel I am interested in discovering local music scenes, exploring the unseen side of the urban environment, and sharing the way that I live with the people I meet.
I am interested in fermentation; beer, kraut, 'bucha, and what-have-you. Don't leave here without exchanging grandmothers pickle recipes!
I am very excited about wilderness backpacking and have a hard time saying 'no' to week long backcountry hiking expeditions!

I am drawn to the geo-thermal wonders of hot springs. I am always longing for a good soak in the steaming mineral baths of mother nature. If you have some time, let me know and we can plan an expedition to a hot spring!
