Travel - friends and comradery= something not as fun as it could be.....and thus I couch surf!
I'm sitting here trying to think about how others would describe me and I definitely don't want to bore you. I think I am a person filled with contradictions. I love change and randomness in my life. I travel, move alot, try to get involved in different jobs and love meeting new people. At the same time, I love stability as my girlfriend and family are pillars in my life and I get a little nervous if there is too much uncertainty. I love talking about everything and usually do so with friends over a beer or coffee. At the same time, I am sometimes shy and enjoy time by myself exploring. Particularly during my time here in Taipei, I love riding my scooter around and getting lost. Sometimes I am brutally honest and blunt but at the same time I think I am really openminded and love to here different points of view.
I have gone through a 5 year period of uncertainty in my life and it really has been amazing. Without uncertainty and questioning our own life, we will never really be able to appreciate those permanent stable people/things. Life always brings surprises and no matter how much we prepare, how we react to such surprises is what ultimately defines our direction.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have just started and am really excited about being a tour guide here in Taipei. I love this city and am more than happy to show you around.
None yet except I did have a friend who got involved and hosted a visitor from Korea. We all went out and had a great time and this is definitely one of the reasons I am just signing up.
Travel, language, cultural differences, education, sitting in public places and pretending to read while I actually am just watching people, guessing what people are thinking and what they are doing in their life, coming up with amazing/shitty potential business ideas, drinking good beer (臺啤不算）， singing Disney songs, playing basketball, hanging out with friends, pretending I can play guitar
Music, Movies, and Books
name the music and I listen to it (except country), I love political conspiracy books from authors like David Baldacci, John Grisham and Tom Clancy. I also love Mitch Albom who writes lots of books about life in general and its meaning, movies favorites include Big Lebowski, Dumb and Dumber, The Hangover, and again I love political conspiracy movies and recently movies having to do with the middle east. 24， The Wire， OZ these tv series are amazing! Just wish I could find a Chinese series I like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I picked up my stuff and moved my ass to Taiwan after graduation on a mission to learn Chinese. I am now pretty decent! I consider this amazing. But if this seems too boring, I did get lost in the jungle in northern Laos during a ridiculous rainstorm, found a village and slept over and the next day after a ridiculously difficult hike through mud and debris, made it to a river village where I took a boat back to a main town.
Countries I’ve Visited
China, Czech Republic, Laos, Viet Nam
