ABOUT ME

Words are my way of going through life. I studied Language & Communication and did a master in Journalism, I'm all into music (don't make music myself, but I do collect records, mostly soul, jazz and folk), running, reading, old films, the Beat Generation and drinking wine. I often think I write more than I talk, but when I talk, sarcasm dominates ;) My destination in life is no destination, but it's - cliche, cliche - the road that attracts me most. This would fit perfectly with my ambition: becoming a travelling journalist or correspondent. Writing and travelling at the same time is a perfect combination - even better than peanut butter with chocolate sprinkles. I live in Amsterdam, the best - and only - city of the Netherlands, but too small for an enterprising person as myself. I am Bente Schreurs, 29 years old and ready to discover the world. So, if you managed to read through all the information, I've got one last question for you: interested in helping me on my mission to find freedom, wherever that may be?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed many times, hosted many times, mostly in Europe and the West Coast of the USA, and all have been wonderful experiences! Have heard lots of stories, tasted cultures and laughed a lot. Hope there's more to follow!

Everything by Jack Kerouac, 'Steppenwolf', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', 'The Beautiful and the Damned', 'The Great Gatsby', 'Catcher in the Rye', 'Atonement' and all the Harry Potter books. When it comes to music, the list is endless: Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Stones, Marvin Gaye, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Amy Winehouse, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Van Morrison, Sixto Rodriguez, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen several amazing countries (and can't wait to see more!) but the most amazing places were New York (I left my heart in Greenwich Village), San Francisco, Havana, Antigua (Guatemala), Reykjavik, Medellin, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Budapest, Essaouira, Paris and New Orleans. My best summers I spent interrailing. Trains are definitely my favourite way of travelling.
