travel, learn spanish and finish the dissertation
A joyous, talkative person who loves to travel around and socialize. So far I had the chance to visit various cities in 21 countries and studied away from home in the US, Germany, Argentina and Belgium. If there is one thing I learned during my travels, it is that everyone has something different to offer, as long as you are willing to create the time to find that out.
Difficult to summarize it in just a few sentences but, politically, I consider myself to be a social democrat. In other words, I believe in the equality of and the liberty for everyone. In general, I try to live my life to the fullest and not to have any regrets even if that means making a few major mistakes here and there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love doing backpack traveling and usually hang out with others who do so it is only natural that I would register in CS. I love this site!!! Have not had a chance to do much actual couchsurfing but I try to attend to its activities, meet with people and get some language partners here. I spent most of day doing research, which tends to be a very solitary experience. Therefore, I am always looking for ways to get to know outside of my circle, have new experiences and travel.
So far I only had positive experiences!
travelling, books, football, movies, people, cities, history, politics, learning new languages, playing chess, swimming, and dancing.
Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to even start counting here. I really like reading books on political history and current affairs, as well as historical novels. Aside from the stuff I regularly read for my work, I like to watch movies (great fan of Pedro Almodovar, Bernardo Bertolucci Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Coen Brothers, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick) and read novels in my free time. I really enjoy works of Salman Rushdie, Truman Capote, Bret Easton Ellis, Nagub Mahfouz, Pierre Merot, Philip Roth, Mario Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, Junıt Diaz, Haruki Murakami, Paul Auster, and among the Turkish authors, those of Orhan Kemal, Yasar Kemal, Nazim Hikmet, Kemal Tahir, Vedat Turkali.
