Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Berk, 21. I work for Turkish Airlines and study German Language to learn German. I'm into underground techno (am bedroom dj producer too), conversations that includes "conspiracy" theories, and random city walks. Always curious about people who think differently :)
I usually like to stay with hosts or host surfers for a couple of days. One of the main reasons I travel is to actually connect with people, not just crash on a couch. I enjoy building real friendships. The kind where you might meet again years later in another country, still having something to share or help each other with.
I'm a non-judgmental person. I try to understand people before making any conclusions. I believe nothing in life is purely black or white. In the end, we’re all just trying to make the best choices within the limits we didn’t choose ourselves.
I’d say I’m quite a deep thinker. I never take things at face value. I always wonder what’s behind what I see, and I like to dig beneath the surface.
If you are interested in personality theories:
My MBTI is INTx. Enneagram 5w4.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'll be honest. I started Couchsurfing out of necessity when I was 18 years old. And sometimes Couchsurfing felt like a burden to me since I'm an introvert. But a lot has changed in some years. At this point, it's not like I'm using couchsurfing to travel, but it's like I'm traveling to use couchsurfing. When I think about a city that I visited, I remember my host and how we spent time more than the city.
Couchsurfing really immerse you in the culture and life of different countries, get to know the inhabitants of these countries, find out their opinion about what is happening, and the way people live here. Or spend time differently than regular excursions.
Couchsurfing also allows you to make new meets around the world. Thus it makes our horizons wider, it allows us to better understand the world in which we live.
People need to remember how to connect, to unite, and to realize that even thousands of kilometers away, there are lives just as valuable as their own. In a time when humans are turned against one another, when fear of others is taught; and when we are divided so deeply by political views, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, and genders, we need to remember more than ever.
The elite nobility, who have been shaping this society for decades to cloak themselves in a godlike image, never hesitate to inflict any kind of suffering on others for their own benefit. They destroy cultures, they degenerate nations. They hand us toys to distract us. They place showpiece figures like politicians in front of us, while continuing to execute their plans behind the curtain.
Couchsurfing is a beautiful platform to remember one side of the humanity they’ve tried to make us forget: a place of sharing and genuine friendship.
Interests
I love science fiction! My interest is 'future'. I'm not a grounded person at all. Always thinking about future and can't satisfied with our current times. This field of interest creates a bond between me and science-fiction, technology.
People think I'm a nerd. But I think I'm more of a synthesis of hippie and nerd. My mom has a bohemian style/hippie world views. And my father is an engineer with a rigid logic. I feel like I'm a mixture of them.
I'm coding semi-professionally, but I can say it's also my hobby!
