About Me

My name is Bernardo. I am almost 35 years old, Italian, and live in Denmark.

I was born and raised in a small town in Chianti, near Florence, before moving to Turin, where I lived for 13 years. In 2023, I relocated once again—this time to Copenhagen, the Danish capital—to live with my girlfriend, Irene. I am the chief editor of The Copenhagen Post, the only newspaper for English-speaking residents in Denmark.

Irene, who is 31 years old, is an engineer working for Microsoft Quantum in Copenhagen. We have been together for six years and plan to marry in 2026.

We are respectful, cheerful people with a keen interest in experiencing the U.S. from a local perspective.

The best way to learn more about me and what I do daily is to find me on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. I’d be happy to connect! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After a long time away, I’ve decided it’s time to return to Couchsurfing. This year, my girlfriend and I are finally embarking on the trip I’ve dreamed of for the past 10 years: a road trip across the USA, starting in New York City and traveling through the Northeast.

We want to make this a truly American experience, which is why we’d love to meet and stay with local people. To do this, we believe Couchsurfing is the best option. While we’ll occasionally opt for a home swap—such as in New York—in other places, we believe the best way to truly experience the U.S. is through the perspective of those who live there.

Interests

History, history, and more history—my greatest passion for as long as I can remember. That’s why, during this trip, we won’t miss places like Washington, Philadelphia, and Virginia. I believe I’ve read at least one book about every major historical figure or event, from the Assyrian Empire to World War II.

Since I was a child, I’ve always had a soft spot for American wrestling, and I hope to attend a WWE PLE during my time there.

As for Irene, her passions include traveling, pottery, and yoga.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is 60s and 70s rock and blues, including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and The Rolling Stones.

For my second trip to the U.S., which I hope will happen soon, I would love to explore the South with a route focused on blues, jazz, and country music.

When it comes to books, I love everything written by Asimov and Tolkien.

As for Irene, she enjoys modern rock (Arctic Monkeys, U2, Foo Fighters) and books by Sally Rooney.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A very friendly and deeply respectful attitude: we believe that being a guest is a privilege, and it is the guest’s utmost duty to ensure the host enjoys the experience and feels happy to host again.

And then, of course, a touch of Italian flair! I’m quite good at cooking, and traditional Italian recipes are my specialty.
