ABOUT ME

We are Melanie and Bert, a Belgian couple, living and working in Leuven for the moment. We have two children, a baby boy Raf (born March 2015) and a little girl Leonie (born July 2013).

On the personal level we are a quite matching couple, with Melanie being the enthusiastic and wild one, and Bert the calm and practical one.

Bert likes: taking the time for some gastronomical activity (be it cooking or eating); heavy metal; cheerful, blonde company. Bert does not like to have too much "stuff".

Melanie likes: reading, singing along loudly to music (be it in the kitchen, on the bike, in a karaoke bar..., as long as she knows the tune); greeting known and unknown people along the way. She also likes to crochet, to play games, from poker with other adults to hide and seek with Leonie.

Leonie likes reading books, jumping on the trampoline, riding outside on her walking-bike, playing in the sand and blowing bubbles. She really enjoys company, of adult or child alike.

Raf likes to 'talk' to people, and to watch, feel and taste anything that's going on.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Along our travel through Europe and Asia, we regularly surfed a couch and met the most kind and interesting people this way. For us, surfing a couch is the way to experience local culture and daily live from within.

Since travelling with two small children is a lot of hassle, we prefer receiving travelers over travelling ourselves for the moment.

We like to get to know our guests, so we prefer guests who feel the same way, and thus stay for longer than a day. In this view, we assume that guests have read our profile, and are interested in getting to know us.

Interessen

Cycling, cooking, reading, board games, eating good food over a glass of wine or beer. We prefer vegetarian/vegan food, but do occasionally eat animal products.

We really enjoyed the books of the series "A song of ıce and fıre" by George R.R. Martin. We also enjoy Joe Abercrombie, Conn Iggulden and many other authors.
