Hello fellow Couchsurfers,

I am Bert, space nerd, rocket enthusiast, hobby chef and politician with an exiting travel history.

Some years ago I started hitchhiking and couchsurfing first in Germany and Europe making some great experiences. This culminated in a hitchhiking trip overland from my hometown in Germany, to eastern India, where I had lived for a year after high school. That trip gave me strong evidence that there are mostly good people everywhere, no matter how grim the news sometimes seem. I made great friends and an amazing set of eperiences on this trip and it shaped me strongly into who I am today.

After returning from this trip I found a passion for Sci-Fi stuff, leading me down the rabbit hole of becoming an aerospace engineer where I now work towards building rocket engines. Spaceflight and everything related to it never fails to amaze and exite me for the future.

Overall I find myself seeking new challenges and trying out new activities, trying to live an interesting life and enjoy it.

I love music, mostly I listen to rock, both modern and classics from the 70s, but also sprinkle in some jazz, rap, punk, irish folk and classical music.

I love reading good Sci Fi, but it gets harder and harder to find stuff I haven't read yet.

-Lived in India for a year with three people I first met on the Airport
-Hitchhiked the ferry across the Channel from Calais to Dover and back
-Turned a group of random people I met on the internet into my best friends
-Travelled overland from Germany to India over the course of three months
-Crossed the Baluchistan desert with a military escort
