About Me

CURRENT MISSION

July 2014: Lock into a best, long-term job placement in precision machining environment.

ABOUT ME

I have many interests and skills -- I love travel, but right now, I do more coordinating travel for my daughter than for me! Currently, I'm focused on finding good housing for the next year, and moving from part-time to full-time employment.

PHILOSOPHY

Always assume best intentions. What goes around, comes around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first CS experience was in Sept. 2011 dropping my daughter off at the Univ. of Chicago. My initial contact email, even before I as actually verified. led to my stay with Diana Bailey, one of the kindest andmost interesting individuals I have ever met. I had just driven in from CT.

What a joy to discover that my host and I shared quite a lot in common; curiously enough, her two children had attended the same University! She even encouraged me to return and visit whenever possible. It couldn't have been a better experience.

I have also enjoyed attending CS hosted activities in CT --such a wonderful group of people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been a participant and a host at various times over the years, but not officially through this website. For the most part, our family has taken advantage of travel with accommodation opportunities offered through housecarers.com and referrals via friends of friends.

Interests

Multicultural experiences, alternative educational experiences, Salsa dancing, cooking authentic international fare, public health, artistic expression (of many kinds), precision machining, housing rehabilitation, conservation and environmental stewardship, gardening, volunteering, committed to bettering our world, civil rights and equity issues, and more.

Music, Movies, and Books

2015: My favorite movie now is The Closet ( Le Placaard), a 2001 French comedy.
2011: Midnight in Paris -- loved it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rafted down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Lived on Daufuskie Island running the general store and a Reggae Dancehall and Restaurant - the island is located on the Intracoastal Waterway between Savannah, GA and Hilton Head, SC. Survived an auto accident with my 2 year old with both of us in great condition after flipping in mid-air a complete 4/4 rotation in a 3/4 ton van. Home schooled for 4 months in the Boston area, without a place to call "our own home," just so my daughter could tap dance with the Boston Tap Company -- we stayed at a hostel and with friends, and friends of friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life has been all about teaching, learning and sharing -- that's what we have been doing as a home schooling family yearning to travel over the years, but on a tight budget.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting life experiences, good times, kindness and a helpful spirit.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom
