About Me

I see myself as an open-minded traveler, a life-long learner, a motivated volunteer and a creative writer... I used to work as a specialist at an insurance agency in Turkey operated by Assicurazioni Generali. I resigned and decided to be engaged in the adventure of volunteering within the frame of EVS program organized by the European Union. From time to time, I write about issues like immigration, social justice, technology for change in my column in a local newspaper in Turkey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my stay in Italy, my plan is to get to know more people, see places throughout Italy and as many countries as possible in Europe and to make use of the opportunities to practice my English and Italian. I like listening to the stories of people and sharing my life stories. I believe in the power of sharing life, that helps us all meet ourselves closer and know who we really are through the lenses of other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any type of music really... The Alchemist is an amazing book. And I watch all kinds of American TV shows at the moment and have watched a few before like Lost, Prison Break, Vampire Diaries, Dexter. Not necessarily I watch popular ones, though. My main purpose is to practice my English and keep it up to date.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A two-week travel with my sister and brother-in-law in Budapest, Sopron and Vienna was my first trip in Europe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you about European Voluntary Service (EVS) program and share some tips as to how you can fund your travel in Europe or in Turkey. I can also put you in touch with NGOs in Turkey if you have plan to volunteer and travel there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The stories that I have collected, the pictures I have taken, Turkish food (as much as I can afford to cook in terms of time and ingredients).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Cyprus, Italy, Turkey
