Hi, I'm Jared Downing. I love to travel and take adventures. I've been all over the place! Love, backpacking and hiking. I tend to not take the easiest path but choose to take the one I think is right. This means that I often get to live in a place of "Creative Tension", torn between to positions. (Martin Luther King Jr.) For example, I recently accepted I'm not straight but I still haven't thrown away my faith. Honestly, you don't know tension until you tell people your Bi and still a Christian. Its fun to see the misconceptions happen :)
Currently, I work part time for Clif Bar and look after my parents international students from China.
I used to be a semi pro cyclist. Racing for the Jr and U23 National Teams. Now I just ride for fun. Hoping I can move to Colorado soon and ride on some traffic free roads. LA traffic is crazy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm Couchsurfing to find a new town to call home. I feel its time for a change of scene and I'm looking for a new place to call my own. Southern California is a lovely place but there are too many cars and not enough nature.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like all kinds, except screamo. I especially love: Classic rock, classical music, trance/edm, and I'm currently really into Sam Smith. My tastes are a bit eclectic.

Movies: Good Will Hunting, Scott Pilgrim Vs the World, V For Vendetta, Meet The Robinsons, The Great Gatsby, Superbad, Night at the Museum movies, District 9, Lion King, Toy Story, Underworld and all of the X-men movies.

Books: I love books: Dune(series), Eragon, C.S. Lewis, Malcom Gladwell books. The Lost World, Enders Game and basically all Heinlein books, The Alchemist, Animal Farm, Torn, UnChristian, What's So Amazing About Grace, Consumer Detox, And so many many more!
