About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living in Jakarta, looking to make more friends here. Especially if you speak or are a native of English, Spanish, German, Czech, Russian, Italian or Indonesian, looking to keep up on my languages

ABOUT ME

I studied modern languages, anthropology, philosophy, and politics in my university. I appreciate life and the world and the cultures around me. I like to skateboard, snowboard, drink with friends, listen to music, dance, make really awesome T-shirt art... I also enjoy traveling and meeting new people.
I'm native to English, I speak Spanish well, my German isn't bad, my Czech has grown faster than any language I've ever learned, which my Russian language helped, and my Italian is basically limited to ordering food and passively understanding limited vocabulary and lots of cognates. Through living in the Czech Republic, I've learned that body language, intonation, and "sound effects" go a lot further than the lesser-traveled person might expect. And once you have traveled a bit and learned more than a couple languages, you learn that the world is a lot smaller than you thought; after your native language, 2 more are a start; the 3rd is easier, the 4th is easier than that, and sometime around then, you begin to manage new ways of understanding grammar and acquiring new vocabulary faster and more easily. I've taught English to Czechs, and found that listening to them in this context everyday is one of the best ways to pick up a new language. I'm so happy, I've found a new career to bring me through the years.
Otherwise, I've been called "really nice" and "the most interesting friend."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I lived in Prague for 10 months and hosted a bunch of people there. Now I'm back in Connecticut, USA at my parents' house, so I can't currently host. But I can give you some tips about what to do in Prague or Viña Del Mar/Valparaíso, Chile.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching English (and help with other languages), skateboarding, graffiti and spraypaint and stencil art, drawing are some things I love to share.

I enjoy DIY stuff-- I seem to have forgotten how to sew through the years. If you can help me learn to sew again, I could actually be a damn good fashion designer.
