About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visit the world, absorb local culture, understand that people are people, just like me.

ABOUT ME

Howdy. I'm a college student from Texas, studying economics and environmental studies. I play lots of musical instruments, and I am working on an album with my friend CW. We are sending each other songs back and forth over the internet, kind of like the Postal Service I guess. I like to meet new people and see what makes them tick.

PHILOSOPHY

People are people, with individual lives just like mine. If we could all learn to see the "humanness" in each other more, then maybe the world would be a little bit better. I think that Jesus was a good example of this, so I want to be more like him.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am working on a huge reading list right now for my degree in college. Most recently I've read:

"The Sun Also Rises" by Hemingway
"The Sound and the Fury" by Faulkner
"Beyond Good and Evil" by Nietzsche
"Fear and Trembling" by Kierkegaard
"Paradise Lost" by Milton

Musically, I like lots of different stuff. Right now I am on an indie rock / folk bender, but I like all sorts of stuff. Recent top choices:
Self-titled by Fleet Foxes
Self-titled by Broken Social Scene
Anything by Iron & Wine
Anything by Sufjan Stevens
"Hold on Youngster" by Los Campesinos!
"In Rainbows" by Radiohead
"Viva la Vida" by Coldplay

Movies: I don't see as many as I would like, but here are my recent favorites:
Casablanca
The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Stranger than Fiction
Speed Racer
There Will Be Blood
Atonement

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the Arctic Circle a few months ago---pretty dang sweet!

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm....I don't know what exactly I can do here. Maybe teach how to play a few chords on the guitar, or how to play the drums. I could teach a bit about "The Wasteland" by T.S. Eliot, or the early roots of the King Arthur legend.
