HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was always meeting couchsurfers through my friends. I've dined, danced, and hung out with a number of surfers who made their way through town so I decided to finally start hosting.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I worked in Alaska for a commercial fishing season. During the five months I lived there we quit work early only once, the fourth of July. My boss drove our crew in the traveling skiff to another fishing site and we had a barbecue/potluck on the beach with all of the other fishing crews in Uganik Bay.

As many people know, the sun doesn't set in Alaska during the summer months until very late in the evening. The cabin we celebrated at sat atop beach cliffs, and a few of us climbed up to the deck to watch the sun go down. Just as we reached the top and turned out towards the ocean two Orca whales surfaced between the boats tied to the running line. They spouted water and continued to swim close to shore. Everyone there started to cheer and yell at the same time. It felt like we all recognized for a brief moment that we were a part of a very unique, diverse, and sometimes crazy community. Even though we lived in an isolated area and worked extremely hard, there could still be these small moments that made all the difficult parts of living there not seem so hard because it was so beautiful at the same time.
