Hi, I'm Bill, a 33 year-old from Yorkshire, England. I had a great cycling trip in 2016 with my pal Ingmar (UK to Stockhom). We loved using warmshowers to stay with people in cities, so we hosted a bit when we were living back in Bristol.

In 2018 I went on another cycle tour with my pals Rory and Frazer, from Tokyo, Japan to the soccer World Cup in Russia!

This time I'm cycling from Mumbai to Rajasthan before getting a train to the himalayas where I'll meet Frazer and cycle to Nepal.

I'm a very easy going guy and love meeting new people, and being hosted by travel enthusiasts is the perfect way of getting to know a new city!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are looking for places to stay in cities during our trip - we will mostly be camping when out in the countryside. We are on a budget so don't want to spend a lot on hotels etc. We are very sociable people so staying with hosts is the perfect way to meet people and get to know an area.

Interests

I enjoy playing music (guitar, singing and a bit of trumpet), watching live music (particularly jazz!), good beer, cycling and playing and watching football. Also love a bit of rambling, seeing local landscapes and nature. But I'm a very open person and I'm up for anything really.

Music, Movies, and Books

Really loving sci-fi and fantasy at the moment. I've done a lot of reading over the last few months, and the faves have been 'A brief history of time', 'unbearable lightness of being' and 'game of thrones'! Although I think my favourite book ever is 'everything is illuminated'. My favourite films are 'spirited away' and 'the fall'. Music-wise I like a lot of different genres, but I would say I like weird melodic music best - 'animal collective', 'unknown mortal orchestra' and 'grizzly bear! I love seeing live music, so always up for that regardless of genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fresh in the memory is my hike around the Annapurna circuit in Nepal. The earthquake hit when we were half way round, which was shocking and bizarre, and we were very lucky to be somewhere safe. The feeling when we reached the high pass was unbelievable, we put on some tunes and had a dance at 5000m and I totally forgot about my altitude sickness!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how to play trumpet or guitar, or just have a jam and a sing with you. I love cooking so would like to share ideas and recipes. I'm basically up for anything, and love trying new things. I'm pretty keen to learn how to speak a little bit of Hindi, French or Spanish.
