About Me

ABOUT ME

I love meeting people from all walks of life. I have a lifelong passion for learning about other cultures, particularly hispanic cultures. I am a born hispanophile and am married to a Chilean and have two bilingual children. I also have a grown daughter. I will do anything for my family and friends. [the following inserted by my daughter] My mom will honestly go out on a limb to help ANYBODY out. She is the first to invite someone without plans for Thanksgiving to our house, the first to offer condolences and food when she hears of a death in the family...always considerate of others.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you know is right and let the chips fall where they may.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My younger daughter introduced me to couchsurfing, and the couchsurfing mission speaks to me. I have hosted many exchange students over the years (most of them with AFS) and the AFS mission is very similar to the couchsurfing one. I live in the countryside in Maryland, about an hour from DC and 45 minutes from Baltimore without traffic. Although it isn't an urban setting, I am more than willing to be a couchsurfing host. I am looking forward to meeting new people via couchsurfing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed yet, but I am looking forward to starting! My younger daughter introduced me to couchsurfing, and the concept intrigued me!

Interests

My interests include reading, gardening (my green thumb seems to develop the longer I've lived in the countryside!), foreign films, exercise/walking, cooking, ethnic cuisines, speaking/reading Spanish, and NPR!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books of all kinds, such as anything by Neil Gaiman. I am an ardent reader and read nightly. I love Spanish pop, especially from the 80s, like Mecano and Arjona. I love foreign films--French, Korean, Danish...I love them all! I also love independent movies.
