About Me
I am traveling now. I’ll spend some time in Mexico and also Southeast Asia.
I was working in Fort Worth Texas for a little more than a year. Now it’s time to hit the road. Before the pandemic I was living in Vietnam and before that Thailand, but chose to return to the states near the end of the pandemic. When a good opportunity arose, I returned to work. So actually, this being my second time, I’m truly excited to be retiring!
Los Angeles was my home for most of my adult life. And although I have traveled a bit, regarding Couchsurfing I have been a host far more than I’ve been a couch surfing guest. Especially during my last few years in LA I hosted quite a lot of couch surfers and other travelers. I love meeting people from around the world and I have made so many cool friends. I hosted a bit in Thailand and even a few times in HCMC before the pandemic hit. My list of repeat couch surfers has reached 17, including 4 people who surfed my couch in Los Angeles and then stayed with me again after I moved to Thailand!
When hosting, I love showing people interesting places that are not in every tour book or website. I have always been fond of nightlife, especially seeing live music. In LA I loved bringing my friends to a cool place to see a good band. The live music scene these days isn’t nearly what it was back in the day, but I still know some good places. Wherever I go, I know there will always be great bars and restaurants. I especially love discovering little places that have great food or drinks and live music. .
I can and do get along with almost anyone. Young or old, this team or that team, early riser or night owl, it’s all good. I have learned that people who travel always have interesting stories, which is one reason I love hosting. If you stay with me, I hope we can have at least one evening together sharing dinner, drinks and interesting stories.
If you like any of the various music styles I’ve listed below, we will get along just fine.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A quick look at some of my references will provide the answer to this better than I could ever type in one paragraph.
And here is a favorite quote that means a lot to me:
“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him. The people who give you their food give you their heart.”
Cesar Chavez said it. I like to live it.
