About Me

Hi! I'm a biology student and a fan of the 'big wide world'. I'm trying to explore it all, piece by piece, and create some stories along the way. I'll be spending my summer at home in the UK, though no doubt my feet will get wandering and so I'm going to give this a try. I recently had a great time camping out of my car up in North Wales. As great as my Oasis CD's keep me company, some real company and warmth would be greatly appreciated!

Music, Movies, and Books

It's got to be the last thing I read, right? I'm embarrased to say that the reading I'm most likely to be raving about is a quirky research paper I've read. Recently, a favourite has been the importance of crocodiles as seed dispersers - Crocodiles are veggie too! I recently went to a talk by Isabella Tree on her book 'Wilding' so I'm excited to get started with that. Other than that, I've got a sister who studies English and curates shorter reads for me based on my short attention span (She might phrase it differently). I really enjoyed to Ballad of the Sad Cafe. But, if I'm honest, I love delving back in to my childhood comfort books every now and then: The Secret Garden, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Lord of the Rings!
Oh, and as for music it's got be Oasis or Wham! (Depending on the mood...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For my undergraduate research project, I looked at "Evidence for Parasitic Mediated Competition between Black Caiman and Common Caiman". It's not as complicated as it sounds; it meant seven weeks in the Peruvian Amazon catching crocodiles at night and collecting leaches from their bodies (including the mouth). It was pretty gnarly.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Scotland, Spain, United Kingdom, Wales
