Born in Canada and lived mostly in Australia but also in many different countries over the years. Friendly guy, no stress, living in Thailand for the beach, food, healthy living and people.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

When I was younger I did so much backpacking and travelling. Many people were so helpful with sharing their homes with me. I like to return to other much love and kindness given to me.

When my newly married wife and I left New Zealand with very little money on our honeymoon with backpacks and a guitar in tow, to to explore the world with no set travel plans, we ended up travelling for 18 months.

In that time we only paid for accomodation for no more than 25 nights. The friendliness others, our tent, sailboats, buddhist monasteries and other amazing places, somehow there was always a place for us to rest our heads for the night.

Mostly though, it was the hospitality and kindness of so many people that made our honeymoon adventure possible.

So if I can be of help to someone on their adventure, it is a great pleasure to share what simple offerings I have here in Thailand.

兴趣

I played guitar all my life, worked as solo singer/guitarist in pubs, clubs, resorts and restaurants when younger and played in a few bands over the years as well. Favourite music these days being all acoustic, from solo instruments to jamming with bluegrass music.

Sailing has always been a passion from buying my first 28' yacht when I was 18 to sailing in many different countries as well as charter skipper in Caribbean for Yacht Charter Companies.

Another passion is free diving and scuba diving. From getting my scuba diving ticket in 1975 to becoming a PADI Dive Instructor in the 90's. I love being in, under, near or on top of water and never like to live too far from the ocean.

Backpacking, hiking and camping out in nature wherever in the world is also a passion, whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I love good food, healthy eating and lifestyle. Mostly eating a high fresh fruit diet these days, mixed with a good dose of anything plant based.

Living here near Surin Beach, Phuket Thailand, I'm usually the first person on the beach every morning before sunrise for a walk/run/exercise with all the beach dogs that join me and then a swim and bodysurf to finish the start to the new day.

After losing my wife in a car accident in 1994 and then raising a 3 year old boy and 9 month old daughter on my own for the next 18+ years. To have them both as my bestest friends now, I think would have to be the most amazing thing I've done so far.
