About Me

CURRENT MISSION

'to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived'

ABOUT ME

My name is Aurora. I'm from Italy, but I completed my university studies in the UK and - for now - I'm in between homes and countries...which is why I haven't been able to host couchsurfers for a while. I studied Law with English Literature and I write online for a living.

I believe that one of the most amazing things in life is having the opportunity to meet new people - especially from other countries - so you can learn in depth about who they are and who you are as well. This exchange has the power to put everything into perspective and uncover new worlds.

Interests

The most important thing to me is travelling. I can't really think of anything better than this right now. It's just the greatest experience! You get to know so many stunning people, understand new cultures, learn new ways to communicate, interact beyond every single barrier and expectation.

I love singing, but I'm not great at it!
Writing is the thing I can do best, it's a way to tidy up my thoughts.
I like snowboarding a lot and I'd love to learn how to surf at some point!
And...I LOVE foreign languages, English in particular.
Add to this my immense passion for social justice, pasta sauces, walking around cities, black coffee with cane sugar, poppy fields, deep conversations, history, tea with custard creams...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, especially those that influence my life in various ways.
Here's a sort of list, just to give you an idea: "Life is beautiful", "I Cento Passi", "The Great Dictator", "Volver", "Match Point", "Into the Wild", "Fahrenheit 451", "Toy Story" (ALL of them haha, the 3rd one is the best though!), "Dead poets society", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", etc...

I couldn't live without music, but I must say I don't have a preferred genre. I usually listen to those songs that express my mood at that particular time. I like De Andrè, Guccini, Modena City Ramblers, R.E.M., The Killers, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Rino Gaetano and so on...

I love reading and my flat is full of books in Italian, English, French and a few German ones, as my mum is an English teacher and she studied many other languages. I love reading books in their original language whenever I'm able to... '1984', 'Waiting for Godot', 'The Catcher in the Rye' and 'Calvin and Hobbes' are four books that have definitely influenced me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences I've had was my trip to California in 2007. I even got to see a HUGE rainbow covering Los Angeles sky completely on a summer sunset. Can't wait to go back there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really interested in absorbing every tiny thing you have to offer and I'll be glad to give you the same chance...I could teach you some Italian, show you around my city, teach you how to cook a wide variety of pasta sauces, make you taste the best chocolate ever, take you to have the best ice cream in the world, have an 'aperitivo' with you - which is something very yummy and original from Torino!
If you come round during the winter season and you like skiing, I could teach you how to snowboard in Bardonecchia, where the 2006 snowboard Olympic contests took place.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Iran, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
