About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heeding the call to "go west, young man"

ABOUT ME

I'm easy-going, creative, and always, always curious about the world. Was raised in Massachusetts with a few years in Tokyo, went to school in New York and studied abroad in Argentina, India, and China.

My most recent trip overseas was three months backpacking around India a year and a half ago, which was an incredible experience. After that I came home and worked for a while before deciding that it was about time to see a bit of my own country for once!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm pretty new to this, have crashed on many couches but have only had one official CS experience (and it was awesome - slept in a tipi!)

Interests

Well for the past year I've been working as a bread baker, which has consumed most of my time. I can make some damn good bread!

But outside of that, I love photography, making music, filmmaking, reading, hiking, biking, and, of course, meeting interesting people and making new friends. I have also gotten really into meditation since doing a 10 day silent Vipassana course last October - it's had a profound impact on my outlook on life and I'm planning to do another course in July.

One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked for a week in the Indian Himalayas to the incredibly remote Har-ki-Dun ("Valley of the Gods"). Took two buses and a jeep for ten hours (on some unbelievably bumpy and narrow winding mountain roads) to the absolute end of the road, then kept going on foot for days through some of the most isolated and beautiful scenery I've ever seen.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Japan, United States
