About Me

So I'm a 21 year old Englishman who's currently trying to get a taste of the goodlife in New Orleans aka The Big Easy. I'm studying English Literature at Loyola University, with the (admittedly ambitious) hopes of one day becoming a writer or a journalist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm over in the States as part of my study abroad program, and I'm hoping to go on a few trips during my time here- over the Christmas break and once school is out for summer.

Interests

I'm very passionate about music and film, despite being proficient in neither. I like to go out and explore a city, have a few drinks, and generally get a taste of the local culture (aka be a massive tourist...)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I tend to span three loose genres: alt rock, old school hip-hop, and more progressive dance music. A few of my favourite artists are Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Connan Mockasin, Quasimoto, Sufjan Stevens, Mac Demarco, MF DOOM, Four Tet, Sleater Kinney, Sonic Youth, Gang Starr, The Knife and

Film: Honestly with film it's much harder to pin down, but i love the movies of Charlie Kaufman, Martin Scorsese, Edgar Wright, Gus Van Sant, Rian Johnson and Shane Carruth.

Books: As a literature student I should probably have a stronger opinion on novels, but picking favourites is far too difficult! I really love Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, White Noise by Don DeLillo and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked up to the top of an old volcanic peak looking over Lake Atitlán to watch the sun rise.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to discuss the ways in which British culture differs from American, but since I'm still relatively new to the US I'm not sure how much I have to offer in terms of local hotspots. I'm always willing to share conversations about music, films or books, since I think there's always something to learn there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Beer and sarcastic quips.

Countries I’ve Visited
