About Me

CURRENT MISSION

discovery of certain locales that may have certain appeal to certain people, most certainly including myself

ABOUT ME

I travel, I work, I learn, I read, I share, I love, I am loved to some extent, I've experienced alot of unbelievably good and bad in my short life thus far, and I hope to dig my claws into both ends of the spectrum and embrace it all, smash it together until I find that equilibrium where pure contentment lies....

...well, maybe not... where's the fun in absolute placidity?

PHILOSOPHY

How you treat me is how you will be treated by expanded orders of magnitude; goes both ways, my friends.

I have alot of love to give, if there are receptors :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None related to this network, but I was offered an apartment by a very benevolent (and wonderfully shady) Sicilian pub entrepeneur on the Aeolian islands off the coast...

Stayed with a son and his mother in Lipari...

Hosted a friend in my hotel room, does that count?

Interests

oh dear lord, there are interests, must I liste them all here? Film, editing, game design, machinima and other strange film aeshetics, audio production, compiling various media, animation, RADIO, DJ'ing, swimming, lounging, indulging, consuming, expending, sharing, jumping, standing, sitting, exploring all

Music, Movies, and Books

the work of Michel Gondrey cannot be beat by any stick whatsoever; Chris Cunningham does nightmares like Gondry does dreams. PTA, Wes Anderson, Terry Gilliam, Linklater, Christopher Guest, goddamnit am I supposed to compile the omni list?
I make my own filmo's too, if it so interests...

I host a radio show, so my musical interests vary to a large degree

Lit'rature? most recently Stephenson's 'snow crash,' gaiman's 'coraline,' cormac mccarthy's 'the road,' miller's 'canticle for leibowitz,' etc. etc.Camus' 'the plague,' hits very close to home. Reading various media scholars, along with Tim Sandlin's 'Sorrow Floats' right now... and Factotum, Bukowski's a lushy badass. Ermm, Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, Palahniuk and the pomo weirdos....Kafka, Joseph Heller, Vonnegut, Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, a boatload of other wonders we can talk about in person perhaps :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Il Teatro Greco in Taormina, Sicily, situated on the pinnacle hill in the town. Basking in the gloaming of dusk, half-watching a performance of Alceste in Italian, the other half of my consciousness trying to swallow in the inexplicable beauty of the sun setting behind the rolling hills covered in cypress trees and Mt. Etna smoking slowly in the background, towering with menacing calm over the entire island...

...and engaging in a Princess Bride swordfight with twigs in the antetheatre :)

Teach, Learn, Share

An enlightened perspective? Jesus, I don't know what I can teach you, isn't that something you discover from each other after conversation begins?

Yes, I kind of need a dialogue to know what it is I can give... I have no doubts it could be a great deal, but let's start by talking! :)
