About Me

I´m a girl who´s done a bit of travelling, but there are still so many places to see. I'm friendly, have a bit of a twisted sense of humour and I like people with manners. I'm not an open book but if I get along well with someone then soon enough I'll relax into my dorky self ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This website has introduced me to some amazing people and it's just an all-round great community.

I think I've been a reluctant bookworm all throughout my twenties - I finally read 1984 after feeling guilty that it was sitting on my shelf for YEARS, and then as soon as I finished it I read Catcher in the Rye. Now I'm constantly googling "must read lists". I'm on a roll.

I love music, I love films, I love psychology. I love a good James Bond theme. Needless to say, travelling is a very important part of my life. Never underestimate the power of a beautiful landscape!

Music, Movies, and Books

For me, it's all about Björk, PJ Harvey and Kate Bush. I just LOVE them. I also enjoy Janelle Monae, Joanna Newsom, Blur, Gorillaz, Neil Young, David Bowie, Fever Ray... cool people who are genuinely interested in making good music in which money isn't the MAIN focus.

Movies: Paris, Texas / Under The Skin / Witness / The Birdcage / Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind / La Femme Nikita / Run Lola Run

Books: 1984 and Catcher in the Rye have been my most recent reads and really hit me hard. Having said that, I'll always adore Trainspotting and I'm still freaked out by A Pale View of Hills.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Mt Fuji on an empty stomach (not my choice!!)
Cartwheeling on Old Harry Rocks in Dorset with my brother
Swimming in a storm in Fiji
Riding an Icelandic horse near volcanoes
Rafting in Bali
Dancing in the Nebuta Festival in Japan

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach? Basic grammar. I've been teaching it for a few years and I love it. I taught elementary-level adult students. They may not be able to communicate well, but they know what articles are, whereas fluent Australians think I'm talking about magazines. Oh the irony ;)

I love to discuss so many different topics, from the serious to the ridiculous, that I'm sure we'll be learning from each other in some way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Most things to do with studying English (I'll try my best), geeky chats about film, art and music and little words of wisdom I've learned from reading psychology texts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Fiji, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Réunion, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
