ABOUT ME

I promote gay rights, HIV education, and social research in North India. I am very interested in online social media and using IT to raise awareness of social work.

I am interested in meeting other people who are enthusiastic about online publishing through blogs, Facebook, Twitter, forums, Wikipedia, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, and other such tools. I am even more interested in meeting people who want to use those things to promote research, and I am maximally interested in people who use those things to promote health research in India.

PHILOSOPHY

I do not have many unusual personal opinions, and the ones I have I are not particularly strong.

I produce, consume, and distribute data. If you want to discuss or share popular science or social research data, then I want to meet you.

I give walking tours of Seattle. If you are interested in social infrastructure or learning about the history and demographics of Seattle, describe your interest to me and I can probably arrange a good meetup for us. If you are interested, then it means you are interesting to me.

I can certainly talk a lot about the communities of non-profit organizations in Seattle. You may know that Seattle is a world center for medical research, particularly non-marketable data which can only be donated to that half of the human population who cannot afford to pay for licensed medical solutions or drugs. I love giving biotech tours to people who are interested in talking with me about such things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to India in 2007 and have been thinking about the place ever since. I stay in constant communication with my coworkers there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help people blog their trips. I have met a lot of people who take lots of photos on their travels, and then when they are done they just store the photos on their computer.

It is not hard to post everything online and write commentary about the pics. In that way, the data becomes a resource for everyone. I encourage people to do this; blogging and other filesharing methods are not complicated.
