ABOUT ME

We are living in Ann Arbor, MI for the year and though we don't have a place for people to sleep, we're mostly available for a drink or possibly to have you over for dinner.

We love fresh food markets, strong coffee, live music, and spending our evenings on the beach with friends.

Matt: I got my undergrad in social work, and now am in a graduate program for social work and interning in Detroit at a resource center for seniors. I love listening to records while in the kitchen. I have a longboard and love to cruise neighborhoods and long winding roads whenever I get the chance. I travel in order to better understand the issues that other people face and the ways in which they overcome their barriers.

Kate: I also have a degree in the humanities from Kalamazoo, though most recently I've worked at an environmental lab that focuses on water quality. I love to read, bicycle, and trek, and would do all at the same time if I could. I am interested in stones, metalwork, language, and exploring cities. I travel to discover new and creative ways of social and natural integration.

Although we love to be active outdoors, and hang and cook with friends, we also enjoy some quiet time to play backgammon and drink either coffee or wine, depending on the time of day :)

Matt: Ice boating on a frozen lake in Northern Michigan...WOW!

Kate: Through my university I've participated in several student-lead backpacking trips into a Canadian national park... to see how the wilderness can erase social barriers and inspire people to change their ways of thinking is really incredible. Also to see how quickly people learn to trust one another and to realize how little we really need.
