Music, Movies, and Books
I have an eclectic taste in music, though I lean toward jazz, classical, acoustic folk, world music. Love some of the classic movies from the past as well as Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, The Godfather, Out of Africa, Havana, The Bird Cage, The American President, Silence of the Lambs, Vietnam era movies, Comedies set in Ireland and Scotland, movies set in India and the Middle East, White Christmas.
I Love and prefer Biographies and Autobiographies, History, texts on critical theory and literary criticism, and some fun and intriguing fiction series like Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford series, David Hewson's Nic Costa series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived and worked in Calcutta, India, with Mother Theresa's community. Hitchhiked from Alexandria up the Nile to Aswan, and survived. Worked in mixed race townships outside of Durban and Cape Town, SA during the height of Apartheid. Managed to complete six years of courses, all in Italian, and a doctoral dissertation at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. Paid 'homage' visits/pilgrimages to Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Palestine and Raj Ghat, Deli, India.
Teach, Learn, Share
Live in the moment. Embrace the search for truth and value rather than grasping onto frozen absolutes. Recognize that 'socialization goes all the way down,' and that there really aren't any 'metanarratives.' Go out with gusto and with presence and intention and construct and create your own meaning and value in your life. Be the author(ity) of your own life. Step back with graceful regularity and be in the moment, silent, still, centered. Relish and appreciate the love you have in your life and tell your loved ones every single day that you love them. Life is but a brief passing moment, so drink good wine and grow and cook good food.
