About Me

I am a divorced male with one natural and three step children and one step grandson. I have worked for AT&T approximately 40 years and have been active in church choir, community theatre and volunteering. One of my passions is hosting foreign exchange students. So far I have hosted 7. 4 from Germany, 1 from Italy, 1 from Spain and 1 from the Netherlands. I have visited the homes of all of my exchange students and attended almost all of their graduations from high school in their native countries. In addition, I have become friends of other exchange students and their families from several other countries.

I am part Choctaw American Indian and my family has had close ties with the Choctaw tribe. My great grandfather was deputy marshal of Oklahoma Indian Territory and my aunt is deeply involved with the American Indian Cultural Center in Oklahoma City.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I helped with support of one of my exchange students who back-packed around the world. He used Couchsurfing as one of his means of shelter in many countries and got me interested in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just about any music, adventure movies - my favorite movie is "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou", and documentaries. I like reading fictional books (but not too often). I like documentary books such as "Game Change" and fictional books like those written by Dan Brown and JK Rowling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One? I have been in a hot-air balloon and sailplane in Germany, piloted a 14 meter yacht in the Netherlands, snorkeled in Hawaii as well as hiked a volcanic caldera.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a passion for helping young people achieving their dreams. I believe in leaving this world better than when I came into it. I love learning about other cultures and people and like sharing whatever resources I can to help them achieve their goals.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Many stories about my adventures and experiences with my children and foreign exchange students and their families.
