About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, laugh, love, and surf on couches.

ABOUT ME

I love working for nonprofit organizations and volunteering which has lead me to love to travel, serve others, and get broader perspective on life. During previous summers I've spent about 6 months living in Native Alaskan villages and love working up North. I was an intern in Moldova & Ukraine for a microfinance organization where I not only lived aboard for 6 months, but also met my husband. I have backpacked through Spain, Italy, & France with my awesome dad and had an amazing time. My husband and I did a destination wedding and got married in Jamaica and have since traveled to both Mexico, Spain, Greece & around the US together. We both love to travel and experience life in new and unique places. I love experiencing new things and meeting new people.

I grew up in a small town in rural Iowa and didn't ever feel sorry for myself because I loved it. I went to college at Northwestern College in Iowa where I was very involved in and outside of the classroom. I met my husband during training for a summer internship, talked on Skype for 6 months, and feel madly in love with him. I moved out to the Seattle, Washington area where we now live.

As a career, I am an accountant. Before traveling, I worked for a mortgage company in Kirkland, WA as their comptroller. I go to a CrossFit gym and really love working out and training.

I sincerely love my life, marriage, friends, and any opportunity I get to travel and meet new people.

PHILOSOPHY

Faith, hope and love remain. But the greatest of these is love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am on a 6 month adventure travel with my husband. We have quit our job to go and see the world. We will be traveling from Greece, Italy, France, Netherlands, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, & Hong Kong. We look forward to surfing and meeting new CouchSurfers along the way!

As far as how I am as a surfer: I am a good traveler. I am very easy, clean, and considerate. I travel light, fast, and cheap. I am a good walker, love public transportation, and don't need help getting around. I do not normally smoke, unless it is a special occasion (usually cigars), but I don't mind anyone else smoking. I do drink, but I am not an alcoholic and often don't drink when I don't have the money. I don't do drugs. I can sleep anywhere - bed, couch, floor, car. I am not picky, just thankful. I have been both verified and vouched for.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first did couching surfing on my trip to Western Europe with my dad. We had a great experience and met wonderful people, some of which we are still in contact with today. My husband and I started hosting people at our place in Washington. Now we are living/traveling abroad and will are excited to sleep on your couch/floor and get to know you and your city!

Interests

Part of my daily routine is laughing extremely loud. I love to dance...especially when it's raining. Building community defines me. Tennis is my sport of choice, but am pretty partial to watching American football and playing any kind of athletic games. I do Crossfit and resent anyone who says girls aren't strong. My favorite type of sunset is during the summer in remote Alaska when they last for 3 hours because of the long days. I like math, but don't often tell people that. If I could play one card game for the rest of my life it would be Nertz. Coffee shops with free wi-fi rock my face off. I'm interested in being authentic. Music makes my heart happy, and I tend to love listening to whatever some else loves because I believe it connects people. I don't know where I would be with out Microsoft Excel in my life. I have a strange obsession with hats of any kind. I do laundry because I love the smell of the detergent. I LOVE newness, but for some reason hate leaving things behind. I'm still head over heals about my husband, and I will fight to love him forever.
