About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet (and truly get to know) as many people as I can and explore the world until I can't handle traveling anymore

ABOUT ME

I love many things in life. Sometimes choosing what to do with myself is hard because I enjoy polar oppposites. I grew up playing team sports year round and am always ready and willing to go and play a game of anything, though most of my exercise over the past year or two has been from hiking and backpacking (camping, not traveling yet). I try to be a pretty active guy and take pride in staying fit without doing a "workout routine" or going on a diet. I stay healthy simply by living! That said, some days I want nothing more than to lie on the couch and watch all of the Lord of the Rings trilogy back to back.
As far as people go, I seem to have a knack for getting along well with just about anybody. Maybe it is because I am constantly smiling and try to be a listener before being a talker, but I also think that my eclectic tastes allow me to relate to a lot of people.
Well, that's enough. I hate trying to describe myself. Anything else you want to know, or do you want to meet up for a drink? Just message me.

PHILOSOPHY

I have never been a religious person, I cannot simply follow the herd. Instead, I choose beliefs that make me a better person. This is why my primary belief is Karma. What goes around comes around. Be good to others and the world will be good to you. This philosophy has not led me wrong yet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I only just joined this great organization. I plan to fly down to Colombia in December (2014) on a one-way ticket and backpack around for at least a couple months, so I thought I might test CS out while I am in the Seattle area for the month of July

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None at all.

Interests

Sports (anything that involves movement and competition), Exploring the great outdoors, enjoying drinks with friends, getting to know new people, live music, sunshine, rain, and probably a few things I don't know about yet. Sometimes I just need a little encouragement to get excited for a new adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the indie music scene, and get most of my new music from a site called hypem.com. If you check it out, you will get a feel for the new music that I enjoy. I don't usually like anything too heavy, such as death metal or intense dub step, but there are always exceptions.

Books! I love reading. I wish I read more. I really enjoy epic fantasies such as the Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, or A Song of Ice and Fire. I have been getting into a few more classic authors lately, and really love Jules Verne. The only book of his that I have read so far is Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, but I really enjoyed his writing style.

Movies?! Don't even get me started. I'm the kind of person who stays up for the whole movie no matter how bad it is. Also, I think 80's movies are especially delightful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Reaching the summit of Mount Rainier was awesome. I swell with pride when I see that beautiful mountain on a sunny day now. I also work on the Bering Sea, which people seem to think is pretty crazy. I think of it as work. I am hoping to add a lot to this list in the near

Teach, Learn, Share

I worked with a few giant pacific octopuses for 2 years while in college. Did you know that they shed their suckers every single day!? It is quite a lot to clean up. They also remember faces, especially the people who feed them. That is only the beginning of their smarts! We had our own story of a security guard making the rounds one morning and discovering the that the octopus climbed out of his tank and was crawling around on the ground.
