About Me

I'm Chinese, but an Aussie at heart. I was born in Hong Kong, lived there until 11 years old, moved to Australia in Adelaide, then Wagga Wagga, and spent much of my life in sunny Brisbane. After graduation from uni, I decided to move to Singapore to work as a dietitian, and here I am now living a new life in a new city for the past 4 years!

I love art, food, travelling, cultures, nature and philosophical ponderings. Have a food blog on http://tenthousandtastebuds.wordpress.com/. Also writing for my company blog on healthy eating at http://blog.glycoleap.com/. My Linkedin Profile: https://sg.linkedin.com/in/bonnieteresalau

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Very noob to this couchsurfing experience but it intrigues me to make new friends and immerse myself in a new culture. I love to travel, and would love to get in touch with locals to learn more about the culture in the actual place.

I'd also like the opportunity to host somebody to make new friends and learn about new cultures through them! Would be glad to bring you around to the nice food joints around Singapore after work / on weekends. Just a disclaimer: I'm not the owner of the apartment but co-renting with another tenant. So there are no guarantees I can host, as it depends on whether the other tenant is travelling out (although that is rather frequent!). There are only 2 bedrooms and they're both occupied by us tenants, so it really literally is 'couchsurfing' in my living room (although there is aircon, and I do have an airbed if needed, as well as a shared bathroom for privacy). If you're open to this, do message me and see if I'm able to accommodate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to a completely new country on my own for work (and right after uni graduation too!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and basic Cantonese; I also can cook and draw/paint. Working as a dietitian, it's only natural for me to also help anyone around me who's keen for advice on having a healthier lifestyle and diet ;)

I'd love to learn new languages, cultures and I also love food (so if you can teach me how to cook your cuisine that would be a bonus!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll bring gifts and food from Singapore :D any special requests do let me know. and possibly be able to host in Singapore. We could also cook together if you like (although I can't vouch I'm a great cook; I do like food and cooking!)

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam
