I work as an x-ray tech and have for the past 8 years. Recently finished a degree in biology after what felt like 4,700 years and I plan to attend medical school in the near future (if I can ever get in). Before that though I want to take advantage of a bit of free time from constant study and perhaps travel a bit and meet people.

I’ve traveled alone on almost every trip I’ve taken and while meeting passerby’s and locals is easy enough it becomes difficult to actually create a relationship that goes past a 5 minute conversation. I would like to be able to meet and have friends in new places I visit and to actually build relationships. I feel this is much better than staying in a hotel or Airbnb and adds much to the travel experience. Things experienced with friends are always more meaningful I say.

Music: The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell, Eagles, too many to mention.

Movies: princess bride, 50/50, the fox and the hound...also lots of good ones but I don’t watch much tv or movies. Prefer reading.

Hemingway is my favorite author. Favorite book of his would be The Sun also Rises. I read a lot, not as much as I like but I read anything and everything I can that is of substance and well written. Recently bought a kindle and I’m reading pride and prejudice again for the first time since high school.

I love languages and the culture they are formed from and am fluent in English and Spanish and will soon add French to that list. I love teaching. I grew up teaching children to swim at my family’s swimming pool called The Swim Ranch, in Fayetteville and I still enjoy being able to impart knowledge to anyone who desires it.

I have a rather extensive knowledge of general medical knowhow/skill and a decent background in many more advanced areas of biology. Typically though talking about genomic research and bioinformatics isn’t the most exciting thing for most so I tend to stick to what is more easily shareable and enjoyable which for me is learning languages. I can help you with Spanish, English, French and depending on how long from now (2019) you read this I may be able to help with German, Italian, and perhaps other languages!
